IMPACT Management, Hicksville, NY, in conjunction with Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) has developed a solution that allows higher education organizations to integrate Windows Live@edu services into their Luminis portal.  The solution is a component of a SharePoint initiative that IMPACT Management was working on for St. John’s University, Queens, New York. 

Live@edu is Microsoft’s ultimate suite of applications including mobile, desktop and web-based, which help students collaborate on campus, and create a lasting community.

Many higher education institutions including St. John’s University have adopted school portals based on the SunGard © Luminis platform.  St. John’s University, like many higher education organizations, wanted to integrate the Windows Live@edu services into Luminis in order to facilitate a seamless access.   The seamless access allows users to access to their Windows Live services from Luminis with a single click – and without requiring another logon.

IMPACT in collaboration with MCS developed a solution that uses Microsoft Identity Life Cycle Manager and does not require further customization.  Luminis can now pre-authenticate users and seamlessly transfer them to Windows Live without a secondary credential challenge from Windows.  The solution uses the Windows Live Email Portal Integration (SSO) v4.0 SDK and is available on Codeplex  at  http://www.codeplex.com/LuminisLiveSSO
